(San Diego, CA, April, 2008) – Southwest Strategies, a leading San Diego public affairs firm, announced its Live Downtown campaign received the California Redevelopment Association Award of Excellence in Education, Marketing & Promotion. The award was presented on March 26 during CRA’s Annual Conference & EXPO in Anaheim.
The Live Downtown campaign was a multi-pronged public relations program, utilizing media and community relations to accomplish its objectives. Southwest Strategies supported the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) and the Downtown Residential Marketing Alliance (DRMA), a coalition of private homebuilders, to promote downtown San Diego as the ultimate destination to live, work and play, thereby spurring home sales and increasing the tax base for much-needed public infrastructure.
Through a series of special events, feature articles, television commercials and informational materials, the team succeeded in stimulating the growth of a community that did not previously exist.
“It is an honor to be recognized by CRA, California’s premiere redevelopment association, for our work in growing the downtown San Diego economy,” said Chris Wahl, vice president and partner of Southwest Strategies. Wahl served as lead of the Live Downtown campaign.
CRA’s Award of Excellence Program annually recognizes projects and programs that serve as outstanding examples of redevelopment that have resulted in building better communities.
