SAN DIEGO, CA (Nov. 1, 2006) – After achieving success in a number of government positions, campaign veteran and community relations expert Janine Pairis has joined a leading public affairs firm of Southwest Strategies as a Director of Public Affairs.
Pairis brings nearly 10 years of campaign management experience and community relations outreach to Southwest Strategies. Most recently, she served as senior consultant to State Assemblyman Juan Vargas in the California State Legislature.

In her new role, Pairis will be responsible for building community relationships and forging partnerships with local organizations that have an interest in the projects being advanced by Southwest Strategies and its clients.
While working for Vargas, she analyzed legislative proposals before the Assembly Committees on Insurance, Business and Professions, and the Select Committee on California Latin-American Affairs. She also worked closely with the Democratic, Moderate and Latino Caucuses.
In Assemblyman Vargas’ district office, she maintained strong relationships and represented the Assemblyman before community organizations and residents across South San Diego County. When Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana in 2005, Pairis was part of Assemblyman Vargas’ caravan that delivered three truckloads of goods to Louisiana. She managed the media requests and interviews that took place during the 25-hour drive.<
Pairis is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and Minor in Sociology from San Diego State University.
